My Pollock

www.nygirlofmydreams.com (FYI, I've been trying to make this into a link several times, but it just won't work...)

I've been accused from time to time for being too romantic, and having otherworldly expectations from potential love interests. "Boys just aren't going to be all nice and cute-sy in the beginning", a friend once said to me, when I vented my disdain for the way a guy texted her. "That's just not how it works", she said and lighted up a menthol cigarette.

I watched a great documentary last night about Teri Horton, a 70-something year-old retired truck driver from Costa Mesa, who bought a 5-dollar painting in a San Bernadino thrift shop, that turned out to perhaps, just perhaps, be a real Jackson Pollock. In fact, it has a finger print on the back, which matches fingerprints found on some authenticated Pollocks at the Tate in London, and on a paint can in his studio.

It seems she is still fighting for the art world to recognize the authenticity of her treasure, and although she has been offered up to 9 million dollars for it, she has made it clear that she won't settle for anything less than what it would be worth if it was officially recognized as the real thing. That is, something in the ballpark of $50 million.

In an article in the NY times she was asked what she would do if no-one ever offers her that amount of money. She answered: "Before I let them take advantage of me, I'll burn that son of a bitch."

Yeah Teri, don't let them fuck with you!

Mht om jeg havde set den der film, så har jeg svaret på din kommentar, men just in case du ikke lige kommer forbi foreløbig får du også svaret her:

He he, nej nej, min ganske særlige veninde!
