Peter Blake

Ever since I saw Peter Blake's "Self-portrait with badges" (1961) at the Tate this December (the one above), I've been meaning to look more into the work of the fella.

I remember coming across "On The Balcony" (1955-7)  a lot (the second to last picture) way back when I thought reading books on Pop Art was the best way to spend my pastime. I really loved it, but for some reason never moved beyond that single piece.

But on this random January morning I did and though I'd share some of my 'findings' with you.

Aren't they just lovely? And by the by, did you know it was Blake and then wife Jann Haworth who did the cover for the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper album?
