automats

When my granny was a youngster, she used to work at an automat café in Copenhagen. In the 1980s, when I was a kid, I remember seeing a few of those machines around, usually outside bakeries and open sandwich shops. By then, however, they were just relics of time past and no longer in use. And yet I remember finding them kind of fascinating and exciting.

Can we bring them back, please? Not necessarily in a sci-fi Japanese form and shape, but more in its traditional form? So that you can choose between different kinds of layered cakes and pies?
